Now a year since purchased 2011 bmw x1 from GP cars. Waited that long to see how car turned out. So far, so good - we've been really happy with it. The service i received was ok, the car as described. I was fore warned by bad reviews so did a lot of due diligence on the car myself to make sure i could trace its history. I was fairly demanding of the staff and all were fine. Nice to be picked up from local railway station and dropped back. So, all in all i feel i got a good value purchase which has been excellent so far. i have no complaints about the service i received either. A 3 from me is a perfectly good score. From reading how bad the bad reviews are here, i would not recommend to others purely because maybe i was just lucky. There are plenty of good reviews to balance so the choice is yours, but always remember - buyer beware.

Bought a BMW 7 series from these guys, they were local, it was over-priced in comparison to others not so local so, when I saw the car and mentioned the price being higher than others I'd seen the sales guy said he'd knock a grand off. When it came to the sales invoice it was on an Unroadworthy Vehicles Sales Invoice, (it did come with a current MOT done only three weeks before I purchased it and it was not advertised or sold as spares or repair and nothing at all on this invoice to show any known faults) sales guy said that he had to do it that way so he could give us the money off, also he said it was a 'trade' sale and there would be no warranty. 33 miles and 3 hrs later the car over-heated and was advised by the sales guy to take it to my local garage to see what was wrong and when I asked who would pay for that he again said it was a 'trade' sale and it was my problem. Text from the sales guy saying his manager wwould not put up any money so I look at that as a refusal to repair it. Car is now at my local garage where they they found the head gasket had gone, also did a check on the ECU and it has a shed load of faults and looking at a minimum of £2500 to repair it and even more if the heads are damaged. Even with a warranty this wouldn't cover it. They've had a letter threatening Court Action, which they've so far ignored, so straight to Court.

I'll keep it brief, but my experience is roughly in line with others who are unhappy with this dealer. Car not as described, had problems which took months to sort out before I could take delivery. Poor excuses for delays, not all issues resolved, refused to reply to emails demanding my money back or any compensation for the hassle. Aftersales guy is totally USELESS. I was so unhappy with the car that I sold it on as soon as I could. Anyone can sell cars that have no problems. These guys don't know what they're doing when things go wrong. Shabby shabby service. AVOID

Not happy with service - don't bother with sale or return (SOR). I came across an invoice for the sale of my car from the buyer and they short handed me the price telling me it was sold for £1500 less. Whereas it was sold for £1500 more. After they were found out they blamed it on mixed up invoices and the buyer with a rather daft story. Not to be trusted - best to use a proper dealer. I'll never again deal with GP Cars.

Mixed review here and hoping I can change it at a later date. - IF they solve the issues. Keep it short, great selection of cars well presented and the staff were all very helpful and knowledgeable. I dealt with Marc on a 911 Turbo. Turned up as agreed, took it out for a drive and all was good. Needed new tyres. Spoke to a colleague who used common sense to price up my 911 using current prices on AutoTrader, eBay etc. and was happy with the price quoted. Deposit paid and I arranged my own finance. Marc seemed very busy and sometimes took a few calls / emails to get hold of him. Car flew through an MOT with new rear tyres. Went to collect car (Marc collected my wife and I from the station), well presented and clean. Door card was lose as were some other bits if trim. Why? Don't know but they & I fixed that before I took it. Had a look around the car before I drove it away - all seemed good. As with most other reviewers, the whole team seem very friendly, happy to chat and I believe them to be genuine. Issues however.... Car was advertised to have Bluetooth - none present. No 2nd key with car but previous owner has found it and will be dropping it in. More importantly a whole list of electrical issues were discovered and reported on my first day including sat nav, fog lights, xennon beam adjustment and some other electrical functions of the PCM not working. There is also a knocking from the suspension. I don't understand how it passed an MOT and went through their workshop with no fog lights..... Some of the other electrical issues I can understand. Nearly a week later and still waiting for the car to be collected or arrange to return it. One point to note - their standard 6m warranty only has a £500 claim limit which isn't advertised anywhere so with most of the cars they sell its not worth the paper its written on, you will / should need to invest in a proper warranty. These things happen and if the car is collected and repaired quickly then I would be happy to amend my review to 5*....

Since October 2015 the law changed and and if you buy a car that is not fit for purpose you can give the back and get a full refund but you have to give the dealer the opportunity to fix it it's all in the consumer rights it worked for me.

Fantastic, personal service - highly recommended. I found the Audi S4 Avant I was after via the traditional rout of Autotrader, and made direct contact with GP Cars via e-mail. I submitted a trade-in request for my car, and then spoke with Bob, who was friendly, engaging and gave me a realistic trade in value. I organised a visit with Bob, agreed the trade in and put in a few special requests for my car, which he and his team organised easily for me (transfer of personalised plates, painting wheels, tints). Bob made the whole process easy, personal and enjoyable - as you'd hope when buying a car. I would definitely recommend GP Cars, and will return when I'm looking for my next car. Jason.

many thanks Jason, always nice to receive feedback. Yes, the guys here did a fantastic job with the vehicle and the tints and colour coded wheels you specified came out a treat. When trading 100 vehicles per month we always do our very best to make sure our customers are happy. See you in the future for your next purchase and enjoy the car! www.gpcars.co.uk

I bought a 2007 Mitsubishi Shogun before Christmas from GP Cars. The service from the first contact with Pam was fantastic. The workshop did all the checks I asked for and they presented the car in tip-top condition having even done the MOT for me. The re-assurance I was given and the whole experience was really far more than i expected being a woman with little knowledge of what is under the bonnet! I would thoroughly recommend. Hairy moment driving the new car away past the very expensive cars on their forecourt - but i really was treated like i was buying one of their Bentleys!

Pam helped us find the car we wanted and the workshop gave the car a good going over sorting a couple of things I hadn't picked up on the test drive. Only one word - Fantastic! Elaine and Ivan Williamson.
