I want to share our experience with you about Premier Cars Derby. We saw an electric MG and phoned to view it, we paid £99 holding fee as it wasn’t on our door step. We travelled 50 miles to view the car and had a timed appointment, however we were kept waiting and said the car wasn’t quite ready! we were eventually taken to the car in your spray shop where it was covered up in plastic and the front passenger door being sprayed. Apparently there was a scratch and rather than put that on the ad or tell us when we phoned there was no mention. If they had told us I doubt we would have gone ahead. Emily suggested we go off to a local pub to wait while the paint drys, which we agreed to do, when we returned for a test drive the car was covered in dust inside which started ringing alarm bells. My husband mentioned about a noise and asked Emily if this was normal with an electric car as we have no experience of electric vehicles. We didn’t really get a reply to that question and when we asked about the history of the car we were told they had only had it 2 days and waiting for information to come through. The reassured us the car would look like new when we went to collect and and we were part exchanging ours so agreed to go ahead and paid £1,000 deposit. As it was late in the day we did the paperwork and wanted to start our long journey home. When we got home and started talking about it we felt we weren’t excited about the car like we should be, only nervous about the experience we had and the state we saw the car in. We desperately tried to convince ourselves that when we arrive to collect it we would see it differently, however after another sleepless night and unsure about the noise and the fact the tyres looked like they had done more than 15,000 miles we thought it would be best to cancel rather than being disappointed and another long journey. I had hoped as a good will gesture they would return the deposit along with the £99 holding fee. I wanted to give them the opportunity to do the right thing by the customer. Not a chance once they had the £1,000 they weren’t going to part with it, I understand it’s a non refundable deposit, however seems very unfair. I wanted to share our experience so it doesn’t happen to anyone else, we have now used a local dealership which was a totally different experience and they had a range of cars at similar prices. They did offer to transfer the deposit onto another car but no way did I want to go ahead and have another bad experience. Hopefully by sharing our experience it will save others from the same thing.

Oh Alison, The review you have left does not reflect the the true line of events: The car was viewed by yourself whilst in preparation, this gave you the opportunity to have the vehicle prepared to the standard that met your personal requirements. The work was agreed and you left the £1000 non refundable deposit. Premier car Supermarket honoured all their promises and completed everything that you wanted on the vehicle. I now fast forward to the day of collection, we receive a call from you stating that there has been a change in circumstance and you cannot proceed with the purchase of the vehicle. Bearing in mind the vehicle has been completed and valeted and is sitting in handover waiting for you to arrive. The change of circumstance I will not stipulate your reason given but lets just say it was not about the vehicle itself. Premier Car Supermarket refunded your initial holding deposit of £99.00, we told you that as per your contract the £1000 was not refundable, then the reason for you cancelation changed to you were not comfortable with the car and the experience was not good. I would say that the reason changed because you did not get your own way, in fact you stated if we returned all or part of the deposit you would not leave a review but if we didn't refund you would leave a negative review. Premier Car Supermarket take great pride in delivering a great customer experience as you will see from over 700 reviews, what you have to remember is, you entered a contract, we prepared the vehicle to your exacting standards whilst the vehicle was taken off sale for delivery to you. How would you have felt if we had sold the car to someone else and cancelled your sale? There are considerable costs that we have to absorb when a vehicle is prepared and left off sale that is why a binding contract and deposit is taken. I am sorry that you had to leave this negative review but we have done nothing wrong to justify your comments.
I am driving my new car everyday for work and there have been no issues whatsoever so it is clear they look after their cars. They got me everything I needed and answered all my questions. They helped me set things up online so I could see all of the information I need although I need to sort out where the verification code goes as I always seem to miss it. Very good experience with these guys!
