Do not use SM Cars Lancaster , Dodgy dealer .

DO NOT BUY A USED CAR FROM THEM. Bought a car from this dealership last month. Had it delivered so we didn’t get a chance to test drive it. We were given a full MOT pass certificate from a week before with no advisories, told the exhaust had just been replaced and a new AC compressor. First day we had the car we noticed that the engine made a strange noise and the wheel judders when braking (among other problems) Contacted Scott at SM cars and was told that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the car as it had just driven 300 miles to get to us. So, we took the car to a garage and discovered that there is an engine fault, the whole front brakes are unsafe to drive with and need replacing, the exhaust repairs were done poorly and the new compressor isn’t working as well as a broken front headlight. There is no universe in which this car actually passed an MOT a week before it was delivered to us as the brakes are actually unsafe to even drive with. Tried to work with SM cars to get the issues resolved but after discovering they would take over 1k to fix and they can’t find what’s making the engine noise we asked for a refund in the first 14 days. Scott has repeatedly declined our request for a refund and to give the car back and is trying to get some random person to pick up the car and take it to a garage 3 hours away. After reading these reviews, I don’t trust them to repair the car at one of “their” garages. I just want to return the car and get my money back but they are refusing and ignoring my requests. Unfortunately our only option left is small claims court which we will be pursuing but please, don’t buy a car from them. They will gaslight you and pretend issues don’t exist and then beat around the bush when you try and sort out a solution. Not a reputable garage and they have been reported to Trading Standards for breaking the law by declining our totally valid refund request.

Don't usually review but have read some of the reviews I genuinely wonder if it's the same business because I personally found the guys here refreshingly helpful knowledgeable and above all honest had car 9 months now and couldn't be happier with it so Thank-you SM motors

Returned to SM Cars for MOT. Decided to go ahead with advisories and was booked in and ready to go again within 24 hours with a courtesy message to tell me the car was ready. Very reasonably priced too. Will use again

Don’t by off this dealer he sold a car that already had finance on it. He’s dodgy and shouldn’t be selling car be aware if you try to buy a car off him I bet he’s done it before. You could be buying a car that would be classed as stolen by the finance company

Having spent over 8 years visiting this dealer regularly delivering car parts, it seemed a reasonable place to go when I recently needed a cheap car. WHAT A MISTAKE!!! They kindly delivered my car without making any attempt to say they were here, could have been dropped off by low loader for all I knew!?! The first time I came to use it, it would not start, this was 6.30am, so I was late to work. I contacted them at 9am the same morning, to basically be told "hard luck, not our responsibility" Please look at all possible reviews for this place before going anywhere near, and then STAY AWAY anyway

Phoned and put a deposit on a citroen dispatch van then after 4 weeks of lies I called and spoke to Scott who told me they were having a problem sourcing a part but they had foorund a second hand part which obviously means they're repairing vehicles with parts from scrapped vehicles, at that point I asked for my deposit back which after 3 days I had to ask my bank to take out an intervention order They then put the van back on sale £300 dearer Absolute chancers

Bought a car from this dealer 08/2/2022 ,when driving I could smell oil inside the car, but since I only started regain my sense of smell back after COVID infection ,I thought I was just over thinking.Plus I got a bit reluctant as I had only just bought the car.Kinda put my trust in Jamie as he said and reassured me the car was just serviced and had MOT DONE a day before going to pick it up. One week after buying the vehicle and hardly drove it as I was on annual leave the car was dead.numerous faults.Gear box ,gasket,water pump I mean the whole engine got fucked up. Done more than two car inspections with top engineers and it been confirmed that the faults were ongoing even when sold to me..Am sooo Angry as the car could have killed both my 2yr old son and I. It’s inhuman and illegal to hand any customer a car in that condition. The case is still on going as Jamie and his co partner hardly responds to mails and calls. An inspection need to be carried out on this dealer,Before there products killer a customer .Persuing into exposing this dealership legally.

Jamie was without doubt THE nicest most helpful person. He literally took care of everything, even sorted my tax out. Won't go anywhere else now.
