My son bought his car from here, the engine management light came on as he drove it home, they said they had fixed it, but 2 weeks later the cylinder blew up, he asked for his money back and was told that he couldn’t have it and he had to let them fix it. He got fobbed off and lied to for 17 months, with them giving him a date for him to collect and then they would find another excuse why it wasn’t ready, over and over again. They apparently put a reconditioned engine in it, new water pump, replaced both cats, but it was still failing it’s MOT. Eventually he had enough and threatened them with legal action. They agreed to give him his money back and again he was given date after date when he would receive the money, saying the bank had kept their money, then they needed to sell another car, to be able to pay him. He eventually got it back after 6 weeks of lies. Reading other reviews, this is happening time and time again to other people, so please DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THEM.

Hi 'Very A', Thank you for your review, there are always 2 sides to a story. We replaced your son's Timing Chain under his warranty free of charge. A number of weeks later he had an issue which we investigated and both parties agreed to a repair. He had a courtesy vehicle during this period. After offering Ryan a refund he accepted it and this was paid to him. We then had to collect our courtesy vehicle from Derby as he had run the battery flat. We are never happy when a customer has an issue but we will always try to resolve this. Regards, MSP

As many others on this website we were sold an unroadworthy vehicle. After no satisfaction from the dealer went to small claims. Took nearly 2 years in total to get a result. Dealer didn’t bother showing up for court. Expert at prolonging the process and lying. I am one of several waiting for settlement. The vehicle lasted 1 day. Do yourself a favour…walk away!

We bought a second hand car, had a slight issue with the vibration and found out it had the wrong tyres fitted by a previous owner. Made contact and they offered to change them immediately at no additional cost.

I purchased the vehicle from Midlands Sports & Prestige on the 7th of July 2020, when I phoned to enquire about the vehicle I had seen being advertised on Auto-trader. I asked if there were any issues with the car to which I was told there were none that they were aware of. They offered to pay delivery to my home address 445 miles away in Inverness. They were very polite over the phone and told me my car would be delivered 10 days later. The car arrived 16 days later on Thursday 23rd of July. The car appeared fine at a glance and I was delighted with it. On Saturday the 25th of July I started up the vehicle and my car went into limp mode. I put it into a mechanics who told me that the air feed to the turbo had fallen off and needed replaced. The issue cost me £80 which I can get proof of payment from the mechanic that sorted it, should I need to. Soon afterwards, the vehicle began feeling as though it was going to stall at high speed. I purchased a vehicle health checker and the code: P2002 - Particulate Filter below threshold bank 1 - was now being shown, I have screen shots of this diagnosis from the health checker as proof (dates and times are recorded into my phone which also cannot be faked) A quick google search suggested clearing out the DPF system through driving at a constant 3000RPM, I tried this and the vehicle appeared to have cleared up. The vehicle began juddering on the odd occasion but would clear up when I continued to drive, therefore I assumed the car had maybe sat around for a while and just needed to clear out over time. I was driving along the road one day at 30mph and the engine cut out, due to the loss of power my power steering became non existent and I luckily managed to come to a stop without crashing my vehicle, my car started up first time and off I went again. By November 2020 I had new codes appearing on my vehicle health checker P0428 & P0426, these codes suggest that that the catalyst converter was over heating but due to lockdown and a lack of money I couldn't afford to get it into the mechanics and the vehicle still ran fine. February 2021 the juddering started and the car was throwing me backwards and forwards in the car due the jerking from the vehicle and my car stopped in the middle of the road not far from my home. I was helped to push it to the side of the road by passers by and managed to get the vehicle started yet again and drove to my home where we could see bubbles blowing into the coolant. My head gasket had blown and was clearly on the way out since way before I bought the car. I phoned the dealership and was challenged by the condescending tone of the manager who kept saying there was nothing wrong with the car when it left their yard and even sounded as though he was laughing whilst telling me it wasn't his problem. Tuesday 9th of March, I received an email from their solicitors which appeared to be undermining me and stating incorrect information about the case in which I will be taking before a court, as well as trading standards. I only ask that they pay me a full refund as I can prove the vehicle had the issues with juddering from as early as 07/02/2019 due to a receipt which shows it was being investigated but had never been found what had been causing it. The garage had turned the engine fault light off and due to it not popping up anymore, they assumed the problem had disappeared. The fault code: P033 is present on the receipt which is shown to have popped up on the diagnostic machine twice but due to the engine fault light not coming on they decided to leave it and hope for the best. The code suggests that the turbo bypass valve was having issues, the exact same thing I paid £80 to have fixed two days after receiving the vehicle. The vehicle was advertised at 84,000 miles when I purchased it, although when it arrived it had approximately 87,000+ miles on the clock. It now has a blown head gasket and sits at 91,050 miles. The car even lost the connection to the body control module. Code: U0140. That was an easy fix though as the connector had simply disconnected and only needed to be plugged in, I believe it fell off whilst the car was vigorously shaking back and forth on my way to work one day during the dark winter days, had the lights gone off due to it then a very serious accident could have occurred. Especially when I was driving a black car. I have been messaged by a couple of people whom have had bad experiences with Midlands sports & prestige, I even had an old employee contact me and told me all their little secrets. I have attempted to solve this issue with them and I am in communication with trading standards. I will be contacting HMRC also as I was contacted by the companies solicitor claiming to be representing Midlands sports & prestige limited ltd, a quick companies house check will reveal that the company has been dissolved since the 24th of November 2020. I will be contacting papers and leaving reviews where I can. They would rather pay a solicitor in an attempt not to pay me when all I am asking is for them to do right and pay me a full refund. They have a new company which I will also make the public aware of. I will not stop until I have put an end to their business dealings. If you have had any issues then please feel free to get in touch and together we will put an end to the owners ability to trade before it is too late.

Hi I have had and am having issues with MSP and think they need to be shut down for peoples safety! We need a group of people to say the same!

Couldn’t agree more! It’s time this company stopped getting rich by robbing people. They have no ethics morals or conscience….the cars they sell are death traps

James from Midlands Sports & Prestige in response to Avoid at all costs

Hi Paul, As everyone can appreciate there are 2 sides to every story. You have missed out a fair number of points on this review which I would like to make very clear and be open about. Between having the car delivered to you in September 2020 and March 2021 you never contacted us once (neither by phone, email or letters) to report you had an issue with the vehicle. We would expect if you have had an issue, to contact ourselves at the first instance to help you resolve said issue. You never did this. Between this time you had covered nearly 4,000 miles. When purchasing the vehicle we offered you an extended warranty, you declined this. Upon your first phone call to ourselves in March 2021, you made multiple racial slurs, threatened to "burn your house down" and made many threats to "smash your face in". There are certain ways to deal with concerns and this is not one of them. When we asked you to provide proof of the fault with the vehicle you weren't willing to provide a diagnostic report from an independent workshop. You weren't willing to provide any reports or quotations from any workshops. To resolve this issue we provided you with a full refund and collected the car from yourself in Inverness. We didn't charge you anything for the 4,000 miles and over 6 months you had the vehicle. Upon receiving the car back, after a detailed inspection, the only issue with the vehicle was you had run the battery completely flat and it needed replacing! We will always look after our customers. But we don't take kindly to being threatened. Regards, MSP

Poor service had nothing but trouble within days of having the car I found a oil leak the car went back and all that was done is a engine sealant was added to try and solve the issue I then had further issues with the engine management light coming on they told be to take it back and said they’d have it 2-3 week maximum that ended up being 4 months which in that time I had to purchase and insure and tax another vehicle in order to get to and from work the day I got the car back I’d driven the car home I then went out to fetch my sibling from work when the engine management came on again after they said they’d rebuilt the engine I called the garage and they said just reset it and it’ll go off the car in the end was fixed by a local garage and the problem was pipes not connected I will never travel all that way for a car especially from this place so unreliable on the phone etc saying they forgot to ring when I was on the phone 10 minute before utter joke wouldn’t trust these with a lawnmower

"Avoid buying a car from these guys"

Bought a car from these guys in 2019, collected the car, and it broke down the same day on the way home. Car was returned to MSP a number of times with them either incapable or unwilling to rectify the issue. As other reviews have mentioned, they seem to think that an oil change will cure all problems. Luciky I mostly financed the car and I was able to eventually reject it (after several months of frustration) on the grounds that MSP had attempted to repair it but the repair had failed (a failed repair is grounds to reject a vehicle). MSP refused to return my deposit, but this was returned by the finance company. If you read all the reviews here and still decide to buy from these guys you must do these three things: 1) Finance a significant part of the purchase so that a third party with more influence than you has an interest in the vehicle. 2) Know your rights under The Consumer Rights Act 2015. 3) Record all correspondence with MSP if issues arise (use emails rather than phone calls).
