I bought a car from here a couple a years ago. The price seemed reasonable at the time and the people were friendly and helpful. Not 10 miles down the road the car broke down and when I phoned them up they were first merely unhelpful, then offensive. The AA got me home. It turns out the car was a Hong Kong import, meaning that parts were almost impossible to find as it's not a standard model. Everything has gone wrong with this car and I've finally scrapped it as it's too unreliable for resale. I would not recommend this garage.

Traded my car in they only offered me £300 because the head gasket was going told me he could only send it to auction and wouldn’t make much off it he later sold it on his website for £1999 with no mention of the head gasket, the day I drove my Audi A1 off there forecourt 2 hrs later if that it was coming up with check your brake fluid this was whilst driving through Durham city centre, contacted them and they said it could just be the sensor filled the brake fluid up and it all ended up leaking out from rear brake pipe. They had the decency to come and look at it on the Sunday morning but then told me I would have to drive the car from Seaham to Shotton for them to fix it. Two weeks to the day of them fixing it I couldn’t get my car into gear I contacted them again Len (son) who said I would have to drive it to them obviously irate because how the hell was I going to get it to them if I couldn’t get it into gear, he then said he had done me a favour fixing the brake pipe to which I lost my head a bit he was very rude and said the car I had part exchanged was basically crap this is the same car he sold for £1999. Big Len (dad) then messaged me and said if I wanted a civil conversation to contact him I phoned him and explained the issue to which his reply was that I had to double de clutch this did work initially he also said that this is a common fault with Audi’s I contacted them numerous times because this issue got worse and would take me 15 minutes to be able to get it into gear I was told to take it through and they would look at it the first time they just sprayed lube on the clutch which didn’t make the slightest bit of difference the second time Big Len (dad) reckoned it had been a pin and he had fixed it this was after only having my car round the back for five minutes the next day it was still the same and I was at the end of my tether so I contacted them again to be told three of them had looked at it and there was no issue with the clutch and to use my warranty I explained that I was still within the 28 day consumer law and that they had an obligation to try and fix this to which Big Len said if you want to go down that route I have a bloody good solicitor and the last person that did that ended up worse off all idle empty threats and because my drivers side door had a dent in which I said I would get fixed he said he wouldn’t take the car back as it had been damaged and he doesn’t take care that have been damaged, considering the one I traded in had been a Cat S. I contacted citizens advice who said I could still return the car and get full refund as long as I was willing to fix the door, I didn’t feel comfortable taking the car back to them and got a independent garage to look at it and even just by telling them the issue straight away they said that air was building up in it which was the reason it was taking so long to get it into gear and it needed a new clutch this ended up costing me £811 avoid this garage at all costs just wanna be gypsies. This is the message from Big Len Ann there’s nothing wrong with it I have checked it and can’t find anything wrong I’ve done everything I can put it in a garage and use the warranty to pay for it it three of us have checked it and we know it’s ok xx

Part ex’d my cat s seat Leon in which was absolutely perfect with no faults in for a Citroen C4 and the faults I’ve had are absolutely shocking, gearbox faults window faults seat broken in rear central locking broken and now when the rain has started the rear window leaks into the back of the car, got in touch with him only for a load of excuses and that the car was “perfectly fine” when he sold it bare in mind all these faults happened within a week of buying the car, he’s not apart of the ombudsman or anything so all matters would have to be through citizens advice etc, apparently when I raised these matters due to my so called apparent “attitude” he then used that to say he would do absolutely nothing! Avoid this garage like the plague his 3 star reviews literally say it all, take you’re hard earned cash elsewhere, I am a veteran of 15 years service and unlike this garage I have honesty and integrity.please please read the other reviews on here read his come backs and excuses, this is clearly something he’s doing and done for a long time, so so many people with very very similar experiences.

Terrible customer service, sold me faulty car with injector problems. after contacting was told to bring back to them, apparently fixed in half a day... Car started leaking fuel and smoking, I took to a independent garage and was told the repair was done by using painters masking tape wrapped around the injectors! This car dealer needs shutting down!

Len evans from Shotton Part Exchange Centre in response to Disgraceful

Please tell me which car you bought as we don’t have anything in our workshop for injector work in a long time

Came very close to buying a car from here. Checked reviews on here first an am so glad I did. Saved me wallet an me skin. Look at the reviews before mine an the comments underneath. The way the garage speaks to an treats their customers really is shocking. They even told me I would be a problem customer just because I found their behavior shocking. No professionalism at all at this place and customer videos are very worrying. If this is how they treat people online they obvs treat people much worse in real life.

I wish we had looked at the reviews prior to buying. In response to a request to consider a complaint about a car they told us that they had a bloody good solicitor and blamed bad driving for a clear corrosion issue.

No corridor issue the car passed a mot in June you purchased the car in July drove the car for 2 and half month without issues no previous problems with corrosion on axle damage to bumper and snapped axle is very suspicious caused by damage to vehicle as advised you to speak to the mot garage who mot the car sure there be happy too help again seen the review’s before unfortunately people are quick to judge when something goes wrong you bought a 2007 car it’s going to have corrison but nothing the mot inspector deemed to be even an advisory

They sold me a car faulty car, which I rightfully tried to return. They refused to accept the faulty car back, and as soon as I pointed out my consumer rights they got aggressive - shouting, swearing, trying to intimidate etc. Long story short, it was awful having to deal with them and I ended up having to take them to court to get my money back. I'm not the only one either - look at the County Court Judgements register, and you'll see many people have had to take them to court over just the last year alone. Don't believe the positive reviews on Google, they are fake reviews left either by the owners of this place or their friends and family. Read the negative reviews, check the County Court Judgement register (Trust Online) and save yourselves the trouble of having to suffer dealing with this shocking excuse for a car dealership. There's a good reason they were kicked off of AutoTrader!

I would not award this garage any stars though had to award one on google Reviews to get the post on the review. Extremely disappointed with the owners of this garage. Firstly when I telephoned to mention the faults with the car, a Kia Picanto, that was bought with my grandson's hard earned money, they accused the garage that I had taken it to because the exhaust was blowing very badly, of telling lies. They further went on to say 'they're having your eyes out' when I explained what it was going to cost to rectify all the problems with the car. They made no attempt to respond to two registered letters I sent them outlining the problems, on the guidance of Trading Standards. They have completely ignored any request for compensation/refund/part cost of repairs or to at least accept some responsibility and bring the car to a roadworthy standard. We were aware of a minor leak in the exhaust OFF brake pipe corroded Nearside drive shaft joint deterioration What we weren't told about was R brake pads and discs 90% worn NSF strut top mount excess play OSF wheel bearing failed and noisy Exhaust has holes along it's length blowing front and rear NSF outer CV boot split, leaking grease OSR sill holes corroding, jack points severely corroded Both front ABS rings on joints corroded to excess We did point out that the car had only been driven by a previous owner for 945 miles from passing its test in September 2023, until February 2024 when my grandson purchased it. That amount of wear couldn't have possibly occurred in that short time. I would question whoever carried out the MOT. Suffice to say and I'm sure it's of no concern to Shotton Car Exchange, that we would never purchase from them again. Extremely rude and uncooperative.

Veritas in response to Found a garage who a could trust

If you walk into a garage to buy a car the people who run that garage are bound to be complete strangers to you. So there is no way you could know that they are "really trustworthy". This has got to be a fake review.
