I would not award this garage any stars though had to award one on google Reviews to get the post on the review. Extremely disappointed with the owners of this garage. Firstly when I telephoned to mention the faults with the car, a Kia Picanto, that was bought with my grandson's hard earned money, they accused the garage that I had taken it to because the exhaust was blowing very badly, of telling lies. They further went on to say 'they're having your eyes out' when I explained what it was going to cost to rectify all the problems with the car. They made no attempt to respond to two registered letters I sent them outlining the problems, on the guidance of Trading Standards. They have completely ignored any request for compensation/refund/part cost of repairs or to at least accept some responsibility and bring the car to a roadworthy standard. We were aware of a minor leak in the exhaust OFF brake pipe corroded Nearside drive shaft joint deterioration What we weren't told about was R brake pads and discs 90% worn NSF strut top mount excess play OSF wheel bearing failed and noisy Exhaust has holes along it's length blowing front and rear NSF outer CV boot split, leaking grease OSR sill holes corroding, jack points severely corroded Both front ABS rings on joints corroded to excess We did point out that the car had only been driven by a previous owner for 945 miles from passing its test in September 2023, until February 2024 when my grandson purchased it. That amount of wear couldn't have possibly occurred in that short time. I would question whoever carried out the MOT. Suffice to say and I'm sure it's of no concern to Shotton Car Exchange, that we would never purchase from them again. Extremely rude and uncooperative.

The men who work there are so helpful and friendly. Best place for a second hand car. I got an amazing deal and really trustworthy men. Not many places like this left.

MC in response to Found a garage who a could trust
How do you know they are "really trustworthy men"? Do you know them really well? I was mis-sold a car by them recently that turned out to be unsatisfactory and faulty. I rejected the car, as is my lawful right, and very politely requested they take the car back and issue a full refund. They then became hostile and tried to illegally con me out of £1875 to take the car back. When I said no and persisted with my legal rights they got aggressive, swore at me, hurled insults and refused me my legislative rights. They are not trustworthy in the slightest. One of them even pled guilty to selling a dangerous car to a member of the public some years back. They are terrible people and shame on you for leaving this blatantly fake review of yours. I'll be leaving a full and thorough review myself once I've filed a legal claim against them at the County Court. FAO Car Dealer Reviews moderators - I've emailed you an audio recording which demonstrates my comment here is nothing but the absolute truth. I look forward to your response.

Fancy given them 2 a fake review Lockey it not rite doin this
Seemed helpful and friendly to begin with. First time buyer and bought a cheap car from them which was clean and looked well however had a series of problems shortly after using (was also not given the correct paperwork). Resolved problems ourselves until they kept happening so went back to the dealer to see if they would be able to help in anyway and the man I spoke to was unnecessarily rude and sarcastic. As I had the car for some time before contacting them I could understand if they would not do anything and I would have been fine with that, however rather than just saying they couldn't help, he just scoffed at me for even asking. I tried to discuss consumer rights with him and he was just argumentative talking over me and using bully tactics. I tried telling him that while we did have the car for some time I had barely put 1000 miles on it which he told me didn't matter and when I tried to tell him it did he again scoffed saying, "oh so you're a professor now?". I am sure they have some good cars but unfortunately they are not the type of people I want to do further business with.
GB in response to Very poor customer service
Looks like nothing changes with this circus of an establishment. Selling deathtraps, hidden behind some decent polish. Going to listen back to the call i recorded when i raised my concerns on a car i bought. Threatening, spluttering. Its comedy gold !
My partners mother purchased a car in September 22. Initial impressions were fair. Drove home and realised the central locking was not working and the car had to be returned. In fairness this was resolved in a few days, but I’ll continue. 6 weeks later whilst my partners mother was driving a 2-year-old to nursery - a wishbone and drive shaft snapped leaving her stranded and frightened on a dual carriageway. A Miracle no one crashed into the stationary car! The Car was recovered by the police and dropped at the nearest ‘approved’ garage. Recovery / repair / labour £400. The mechanic commented on the dangerous condition of the removed parts. I Visited 3 additional garages for feedback on the snapped wishbone. All of whom said the condition was an absolute disgrace! One station kindly put the car on their ramps and inspected the second wishbone. Large rust holes and ‘severe’ corrosion across the length of the part and joints. (Wish I could post photos). Emailed / WhatsApp the photo’s to Shotton Garage. No response when messages were read. No answer to x2 initial calls. Had the second wishbone replaced for peace of mind. Extra £100. The garage also confirmed additional oil leaks which required immediate attention. Eventually got through to Shotton Part Exchange Centre and tried to discuss a reasonable resolution. I was told the car was inspected prior to sale and any rust holes or corrosion occurred in the time we had the car (6 weeks & 650 miles). I was threatened, invited to the garage to be knocked out, told I was a keyboard warrior and the owners – don’t give a sh*t about reviews or reputation. I was then told I could return the car for a refund; however, we would be £500 down in recovery and repair costs. Shotton would re-sell the car for the same price; now advertised with new wishbones and drive shaft! I asked for help with the cost of the repairs, and this was promptly and aggressively refused, The owner confirmed a thorough inspection is carried out on all cars prior to sale. Take pride in keeping their customers happy? How were the obvious defects not picked up? Central locking also missed on their pre-sale checks? Now I appreciate it’s an old, used car but this is not just bad luck. This is gross negligence. No morals exist on this forecourt. Please avoid!

You have owned the car for nearly 3 month mot was until March 2023 no advisorys on corrison on wishbones which verify there where fit for mot 6 month prior the car was 16 year old car which was fine a point of sale wishbone ball joint can go at any time we replaced the door lock promptly which we where hounded and non stop phone calls same again point sale was working we offered to buy the car back even tho we don’t have to after 30 days people like yourself think u gonna buy a £1299 car and have no problems in the time of ownership unfortunately that’s not gonna happen if your have any further questions ring us instead of trying to ruin a person business

I called the business and was threatened, verbally abused and received terrible customer service. Why would i call back and have the same experience? Yes you fixed the locking and why are we not within our rights 'to hound' ? Leaving a car open on the street is not ideal. The central locking was obviously not checked prior to sale and is a fundamental part of securing a vehicle. I am not trying to ruin the business. I am merely commenting on my experience which is exactly what this site is for. I agreed these things can happen on a 16 year old car. It passed an MOT in March 2022 but ... but you were the person who sold the car in September 2022. The damage occurred after having the car 6 weeks. You confirmed you thoroughly checked the car prior to sale so the onus is on you, not the MOT garage. You sold to a woman who confirmed the car was to transfer a toddler to nursery. The state of the wishbones. Hanging on by a thread. Holes everywhere. Disgrace and you have put their lives at risk. Numerous reviews have said the same. I have also reviewed on google with x4 pictures / auto trader / Yell. Please have a look at the photos and tell me the parts have only deteriorated in the last 6 weeks & 650 miles!?! You offered to but the car back after we spent £500+ on 'recovery', parts and labour..... which would have been prevented if the car was inspected and the parts replaced prior to sale.

Disgusting organisation. Heard nothing but bad things. I was interested in your comments and looked at the photos on Google. I have owned a garage for 18 years and agree the condition of the wishbones were poor. A basic check would have identified the need to replace the parts. Looked at the owner and his sons Facebook pages. They also sell counterfeit clothes which tells you a lot. Sorry you had this experience. Joe.

Go to any other garage but here and do not believe the good reviews they cannot be true ! The way my son has been treated after buying his first ever car from here which broke after a few weeks is a joke and the owners do not care once they have your money there is no going back. Wish he had read the reviews before going here utter conmen selling unsafe cars that fall apart within weeks - DO NOT BUY FROM HERE YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED - if something goes wrong they will not accept your rights and do not care

The majority of positive reviews are friends of the owner on Facebook. (Especially recent google reviews). Facebook is also where the family sell counterfeit goods. Unbelievable and tells you everything you need to know! Could not believe the level of service I received from this garage. How this place has not been shut down is beyond me!!
Took to an AA accredited garage who did a full check and found numerous faults with car. Phoned and they agreed to cover the welding that needed doing, when it came to it being done the guy only paid £40. Has cost over £300 and over 3 weeks of the car being sat in the garage to make it road worthy. Terrible people and even worse service. Please do not entertain or buy from these people.

Bought a car off them Saturday morning and by Saturday tea time it was on the back of a recovery truck. Called the garage and they didn’t want to help I am now in the process of dealing with trading standards as they are refusing to take the car back even though consumer law says I can. He has advised that he’s passing this on to his solicitor so we are now in a legal dispute.
