Bought a car from Canfield Garage, 9 years old and 100K on the clock which before you read their response to this stating these facts, is nothing in terms of todays engineering. I did not expect a show room condition car, just one that works. To cut a real long on going story short it threw up engine management lights in the first week of owning it, went back 4 separate times where they said they'd replaced this and that with no recipts to prove this. It had a BMW recal which they also done a VISUAL inspection and noted bald tyres and worn out break disks, this had just PASSED an MOT by Canfield Garage by the way! On the forth time of going back they sent it to and indipendant BMW specialist to have a diagnotic done to put my mind at rest there were no faults with it! What the failed to tell me is there were many faults and ALTERED the report then emailed it to me to make it look like there was nothing wrong with the car which in the 3/4 months of owning it has gone wrong on a weekly near on daily basis. This was all confirmed by the Indipendant company when i contacted them that canfield had ALTERED the report giving it a "clean bill of health" in their words. Currently going through solicititors. Do yourself a favour and dont get mugged off by this lot. Oh having read other negative reports on here which Canfield garage have duct out of by saying " i cant respond as there is no Name or Number plate" Dominic Basham HN58RYH. Dont be surprised to find some cocksure response to this. Good luck in court trying to explain how you altered another companies original documents to suit your lies. Shop elsewhere people.
Cannot recommend Canfield Garage. Nightmare to deal with. Car broke down within 2 miles. They fixed within a week but did not replace a broken mirror indicator glass as promised. Then said it would be in the post, and forgot. After reminding several times they went as far as to claim they had now sent and had the receipt for postage in front of them. A few weeks later finally they posted... the wrong part! Have given up, not worth the hassle of speaking to them for 3 more months of reminders to sort it out. Buy a car from somewhere else, anywhere else!

couldn't agree more worst garage i have ever been too, across the drive from there barn thing is where they work on the cars i took one look i ran a mile!
I bought my C350 from Canfield garage at the beginning of February 2018. 4 months and 5k miles later I am still happy with the car and have not had a single issue with it. I cannot speak highly enough of the service I received and I will be checking their stock when we are due to change our cars.

Hi Andrew Thank you for your review, much appreciated, glad you're enjoying the Merc!
canfield garage has to be one of the worst places i have ever dealt with. Total lack of knowledge and understanding of consumer rights and the motor trade really does beggar belief. Bad service.
Matt from Canfield Garage in response to What a Joke!!!
Hi Andrew, just to clarify for our genuine customers. You live 400 miles from our dealership. Your car never once actually went wrong, you took a ten year old car to Volkswagen for an inspection and they ADVISED, on replacing the rear pads and discs and a shock absorber. Despite you having had the car nearly four months (out of warranty) and brakes not being covered under any warranty I still offered to send you all the parts free of charge to your door. But you refused this! When you state I have no idea of consumer rights, I think what you actually mean is I didn’t roll over and give you everything you wanted , bearing in mind you stayed to me you had lost your job and struggling financially, you wanted me to cover full maintenance costs for your car. I have run a car dealership selling 40+ cars per month for 6 years and pride myself on a friendly helpful family run business. Yes we make mistakes and unfortunately cars do go wrong, but without fail they are all fixed without question. I’m sorry you could not be more factual, reasonable and honest throughout the process Andrew. Dishonest reviews are unfair.
From buying the car to sorting out little niggles I cannot speak highly enough of these guys Straight forward no hassle easy to deal with Wish I had found them sooner
Hassle free and non pressured environment. Purchased a BMW 3 series, had an issue 2 months in as happens with used cars unfortunately, but called Canfield garage and returned the car for repair, it was fixed in 48 hours at no cost or hassle to me. Great service, highly recommend.
Short and sweet do not use this place never ever have been treated so bad in my life no help from them what so ever . Nothing but trouble from the beginning avoid canfield garage at all costs.
Matt from Canfield Garage in response to Poor after care
hi, if you actually purchased a car from us please could you be more specific as to what actually happened? That way I may actually be able to help or provide readers with some facts? Your name is not of someone I have ever sold a car to so I suspect another false review from a jealous onlooker.
cannot speak highly enough of these guys. no pressure sales , great car , and a great price. all questions answered and nothing was too much trouble, the guys were knowledgable , courteous and dealt with an issue i raised with no hassle at all. Highly recommend
Very straight forward and looked after superbly. Nothing too much trouble. And car is brilliant. Definitely buy from Canfield Garage again.
It's very easy to sell cars where they are presented beautifully and there is an initial friendly experience. What differentiates the good, moral, trusty business from the opposite is what they're like when things go wrong. There were some issues to be resolved on my car after getting it home from the garage. Regrettably Canfield did not do much at all to remedy that, only offering to look at it and repair things if I returned the car. Living around 100 miles away I suggested I could return the car in my own time and expense but would need a courtesy car whilst it was looked at and put right. I thought there may be an offer to have the car brought back at their time and expense as in other reviews but this didn't happen. And they weren't prepared to offer a car I could drive (just an automatic) despite having quite a few in their garage. Other issues were rubbished and they took the offensive. This involved the part exchange "deal", the service history, oil problems, brake issues, water temperature problems and the MOT. The whole experience is made worse by the fact that they turned things round to suggest I was at fault and they had done all they could. They might reply to this and come up with their version of events. It's easy to do that. But I'm not unreasonable and believe in principles. I have had the car repaired and made good at a local business and feel better about that (despite the cost). So, just check everything before you buy and get it all in writing. Check service history carefully in line with manufacturer requirements, check the cars own service requirements from the onboard system, check the figures in the contract, check the dates on the MOT and ensure all equipment (like mats and the pump/liquid for tyre repairs are all there. Clarify what happens if things go wrong and report everything (good or bad) so that others can see. Hope this is helpful.
Matt from Canfield Garage in response to Wolves in sheep's clothing
Hi. Thank you for your review. Unfortunately i am unable to respond as i would wish as the review is not specific in any way, there is no name, no reg number, no make and model so i am not even sure if this is a genuine review as i do not recall any such issues with a car. If there was a genuine issue i'm sure i would have been contacted by yourself.
Jessica in response to Wolves in sheep's clothing
You're absolutely right. Avoid avoid avoid,I could go into how they ripped me off, gave an M.O.T which was clearly falsified as i got the car home and noticed 2 x bald tyres on the inside rim which were hard to see but it had miraculously passed its MOT the day before.
